THE SILENT CARNIVAL BY: DYLAN
I stood there in the dark,
with my band of brothers at my side.
Not sure what to make of this
I stay perfectly still.
The sound of rain adds creepiness,
to the already spooked cabin.
Cobwebs flurry down the rail,
and a rocking chair
rocking on its own.
My teammates
shaking in their purple team shirts.
I did not dare walk across the floor,
for I am afraid that it will make a creak.
With one look,
I am attracted to the window,
where I saw

an eye, as large as my captain.
My sudden burst of courage flees from me
as the eye turns into a large head.
Slowly with ease,
The head works its way up
Until I get a look at the large,
sharp, and intimidating teeth.
I was sure my doom was soon to come,
but alas,
I opened my eyes,
To find myself in the middle of a large field
Where a carnival has taken place.
Although I let out sighs of relief,
I took a minute to listen,
But heard nothing.
I was in the middle of a silent carnival.
While the clowns and performers made fools of themselves,
I heard nothing.
I took the time to look around,
And realized the beast that had claimed my life
Was asleep next to the cabin I was in before.
Confused greatly,
I was soon escorted by a very small man
who was wearing a Santa elf costume.
To my disbelief,
The little man led me towards the beast,
That was humbly sleeping.
Into the house I went,
Being much smaller than I remember.
As I went to the back,
Another tiny man was there guarding a wooden door.
He opened the door and shoved me in.
I stood as a stranger to a crowd of elders,
All gathered together to discuss the world’s issues.
As I am asked to reveal myself,
My make-believe world freezes.
Thrusting me into total and utter confusion.
